A design and build contract for two of the Yorkshire Museum’s main collections.
The Power & The Glory: the Story of Medieval York
The Yorkshire Museum is a Grade B listed building with part of the museum built over the remains of St Mary’s Abbey (Grade A listed Monument). The museum has a nationally important collection of medieval sculpture and internationally important medieval objects, including the Middleham Jewel and the Coppergate (Anglo-Saxon) Helmet. The Story of Medieval York is told within the remains of the Abbey that forms this unique Gallery.
Extinct: A Way of life
Arranged over four new galleries, the museum’s internationally significant fossil and palaeontology collections, including the 180 million year old ‘type specimen Ichthyosaurs have been redisplayed to explain the Earth’s five mass extinctions. A new Learning Gallery presents current environmental issues and threats to endangered species.
